1. What is Mobile EV Charging?

Mobile EV Charging is an on-demand emergency roadside service covering Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and the Miami Valley. Whether you're stranded roadside, parked at home, stuck at the airport, or at work with 0% battery, we bring the power to you—fast.

2. Do you offer other EV roadside assistance services?

Yes. In addition to mobile charging, we provide full EV-friendly roadside assistance, including:

EV lockouts (for vehicles that are completely powered off)
Flat tire service for electric vehicles
Roadside safety checks
Low-voltage battery assessment (12V/aux battery)

3. Do I need to have my own charger or power source?

Not at all. We provide everything—a mobile Level 2 charging system with its own power supply and charging cable. You don’t need any equipment or outlets on hand.

4. What type of charger do you use, and how fast is it?

We use a Level 2 charging system delivering up to 7.2kW of power. This typically provides:

10–15 miles of range in ~15–20 minutes
20–25+ miles of range in ~30–45 minutes

Charging speed varies based on your EV's battery size, state of charge, and onboard charger capability. Our goal is to give you enough range to reach home or the nearest public charger—not a full charge.

5. How long will you stay at the scene?

We stay until your vehicle reaches a safe, usable range. You’ll never be rushed or left uncertain—our technician remains on-site until the job is complete.

6. What does it cost?

Our Mobile EV Rescue Charging is a flat rate of $125.
No per-minute billing.
No per-kWh billing.
No hidden fees.

7. What EVs are supported?

We support all North American EVs equipped with J1772 or NACS (Tesla) charging ports.

Level 1 Charging (Standard Wall Outlet)

Power Source: 120V outlet (like what you use for a phone charger)
Speed: Adds about 3–5 miles of range per hour
Use Case: Slowest option. Best for overnight home charging or emergencies.
Note: This is NOT practical for roadside recovery.

Level 2 Charging (Most Common Public/Residential Charging)

Power Source: 240V outlet (like a dryer or oven outlet)
Speed: Adds about 10–30 miles of range per hour
Use Case: Home installations, workplace charging, public stations — and what Onward Roadside uses for mobile charging
Note: This is the sweet spot for roadside top-ups—fast enough to get you moving without requiring heavy infrastructure.

Level 3 / DC Fast Charging (Rapid Charging)

Power Source: Direct current (DC) from high-powered stations
Speed: Adds 60–200+ miles of range in 20–30 minutes
Use Case: Long-distance travel, highway corridors, EV charging hubs
Limitations: Not all EVs support DC fast charging, and the equipment is expensive, large, and stationary—so it’s not suited for mobile roadside solutions.

Charging From Home

For plug-in hybrid vehicles, a standard Level 1 outlet typically provides enough charge overnight. However, if you drive a fully electric vehicle, a Level 2 charger offers faster, more practical charging for daily use—but it usually requires professional installation by a licensed electrician. If you live in an apartment or condo without dedicated charging access, it’s worth discussing installation options with your property manager or relying on nearby public charging stations for regular use.

Battery Care

With proper care, most EV batteries deliver reliable performance for 100,000 to 200,000 miles—and that range continues to grow with advancing technology. To maximize longevity, aim to keep your charge level between 20% and 80% during daily use, and avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat when possible. Staying within these ranges helps minimize battery degradation and keeps maintenance needs low.
